We liked TW Shannon's rants so much we acquired another Mullikin Co book, "Personal Help for Men". This one is full of illustrations of great hokiness, including a boy scout holding a paper that reads "National Automobile Chamber of Commerce, Inc" ("A real man in the making"), The Reproductive Organs (which curiously has a label for "The Penis" (5) but no penis drawn in the image), and a great picture of a woman who has just given birth, looking almost as depressed as her husband standing nearby, with the caption, "When he marries, and the baby comes, it may be defective."

From the early 20^th century comes the book From Youth into Manhood, a book apparently intended to teach adolescent boys about their naughty bits and how to never use them. The dust jacket reads:

The book is copyrighted by "The International Committee of Young Men's Christian Association" and delivers to us Sexual Hygiene of the Young Man, a fantastic tirade on self-abuse, nocturnal emissions, and lewd women (oh my!).

When I was visiting my grandparents in Minnesota, I discovered the gem that is "Everyday Questions Teenagers Ask," a short paperback partly eaten by rats in the chicken house on their farm. It contains 51 supposedly common questions, and we have the best ones here for you. Find out how many things are the "Devil's Tool," how girls have something wrong with them if they don't like their boyfriends, how girls shouldn't lead youth groups, and how the best thing to do for impure thoughts is to "spend lots of time on your knees before the Lord."
